Food
A few words over the Maltese
restaurants. As almost everybody is closing down for the winter in my area, I
had to
find other waterholes, and St. Pauls / Qawra is not too far away. Fish is my
favourite food, and I succeeded in finding two splendid places. In main
street Buggibba/Qawra "Chez Gaetane"
* * * was a rather boring restaurant (interior), but
the seafood-salad was first class with king-prawns, clams, shrimps and octopussy
on a very fresh salad. And a very kind and professional service. BUT, now it's
closed. . .
Not far away in
main street (Triq - it-Mosta) St. Pauls Bay is café/restaurant "Chapelle"
* * * * - just besides the Azzopardi fish shop. You could go to the
shop, pick up the fresh offer of the day, and give it to the chef in Chapelle.
He cooked it for you, as you wished, for only 6 Euro with the vegs, you wanted.
That was a treat - BUT, now change of owners, so don't expect the same offer,
before asking the Ukrainian/Siberian staff.
Right now, summer of 2010,
the best treat and service is in restaurant "Terragon"
* * * *, Bugibba/St. Pauls with impeccable food and
professional waiters, and a splendid view of the bay - but remember the vallet, it's not cheap.
From March till November in my
part of the island, you have to go to "Ix-Xatba"
* * * * (only the best service and the best fish) -
and "Zefferino's" *
* * , and after Easter "Riviera Blue" *
* * with the best terragon sauce - all 3 in Marfa Road, Ghadira Bay. Best Chinese: "Master
Wok " * * * in
Main Street, Mellieha - best Indian,
"Madras" * *
* in Bugibba.
